The Soca Valley/Julian Alps is a fantastic location for those looking for an active holiday. My experience is that the activities are well organised and the guides very professional, particularly when it comes to safety.  There are plenty of activity companies that you can book with, for example based in Tolmin (the main town 15 minutes drive away) and Kobarid (about 5 minutes drive).  I have only dealt with one company, Maya Sports, and I can definitely recommend them.  They seem to be able to offer you almost anything, if not themselves then they have contacts for all the other sports and activities.  They are based in Tolmin and please use the following link to view their website - MAYA
