If you like wine there is the best wine growing region in Slovenia only 30 minutes drive away. This area is likened to Tuscany and as you drive over the hill you see rolling vineyards as far as you can see. There must be 70 or so vineyards, most of which offer tasting and some offer food. I believe that in autumn time you can help make the wine.
Kobarid, only 5 minutes drive away from the house, is the location of the 2 top restaurants of Slovenia and the small town forms the gastronomic centre of the region. I can definitely recommend a vist to Franko's and Cuttlers. The first offers exquisitely presented food and wine for each course. The second is a top fish restaurant - try the famous Soca Trout. Both restaurants are quite expensive by Slovenian standards
The village restaurant/bar is 5 minutes walk from the house. It serves good local food at a very reasonable price
